About the blog
When the idea for this blog initially came up, someone said to me, “I really hope this won’t be like a diary.”
I thought about that for a while and finally concluded, “I hope so too.”
So even though it is often a retelling of events, it is rarely free of junk seeping in.
I moved to Nigeria after over a decade in the US and this blog started as a way to record the events during my NYSC service year (hence the name)
It has grown to include things before and after, and also a lot of writing practice.
Blog posts are twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays*, that way even though I can’t promise the posts will always good, they will at least be consistent.
Tuesdays are freeform while Friday posts are usually focused on Nigerian issues, or rather, my issues with Nigerian issues.
I also write as part of Linguistic Playfulness, the Farafina Trust Creative Writing Workshop class of 2011:

You taught me something new, I can apparently edit the comments to correct them… (or say whatever I want). Scary, yeah? *ominous laughter*

Thanks for the compliment. Always encouraging to find people who think my writing is any good.
